Newspapers:

UNITED STATES:
Remember:
- When searching for obituaries and death notices remember that they may appear in different newspapers, on different pages or on different days.
- When searching for women, use their husband's name--Mrs. John Dow. Initials were frequently used--Mrs. J. D. Smith.
- Your ancestor's name may appear in newspapers a long ways from where they actually lived...someone visiting a relative in a small town was usually reported in the local newspaper.
- Newspapers are scanned with dirty OCR (no human involved). Be VERY open minded about the search results you get.
