This class focuses on United States Records
Skills learned can be used for other countries in the world
Land Records are used for many reasons to help us in our research.
Land records are almost always government records

Where are the Records?
Land Records are a very interesting method of discovering our ancestors. As always, the best place to look is where your record is. Determine your ancestor’s locale then research where the land records would be for that location.
This class focuses on United States Records

Land Records are used for many reasons to help us in our research.
- They are generally easy to discover and use
- They give us a photo in time of our ancestors
- They pinpoint a location where our ancestors were
- They usually have other information attached to the files
- The records can be older and more informative than Censuses

- Land Grants and Land Patents
- Private Land Claims
- Mining Claims
- Property Deeds
- Probate and Estate Records
- Tax Records
- Plat Maps
